Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry

Students can now enroll in a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry program at JC. This new degree equips future pastors, missionaries, and other Christian leaders with a biblical foundation for integrating faith and knowledge while preparing them for vocational, co-vocational or volunteer ministry positions.

Bachelors of Science Degree - CIP 38.0203 Christian Ministry

Purpose and Objectives: The Christian Ministry major is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for ministry in a variety of contexts.

By the completion of this degree, graduates will:

  1. Possess foundational skills for ministry as either pastors, teachers, missionaries, or in other positions of Christian leadership.
  2. Be equipped to minister effectively in vocational ministry, marketplace ministry, or volunteer ministry roles.
  3. Develop skills necessary to understand and communicate God’s Word.
  4. Have a biblical foundation for integrating faith and knowledge in the pursuit of truth.

 

Depending on courses selected, this degree program requires 122-127 semester hours along with 6 semesters of participation in the JC Works program

            What is required for the new bachelor degree?

            Is there financial aid for this program?

            We do have a limited amount of internal funds available for aid. At this time, federal funds cannot be guaranteed, but more information will be coming soon.

            Is this program available online?

            Many of the courses for this program are offered online. In many instances, it is possible to complete the entire degree online. An advisor will be able to answer specific questions on course availability depending on which degree pathway you choose. The college partnered with Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary, its longtime sister school also located in Jacksonville, to create this first bachelor degree in ministry. Many of the junior and senior level courses will be offered in a consortium with the seminary.

            What is JC Works?

            A focus of the program is practical preparation, including four professional/vocational certification courses and six semesters employed in JC Works, a work-study program that includes both on-campus jobs and internships in churches and other ministries. This includes a combination of semesters working on campus and semesters utilizing outside partnerships.

            Are there other degree pathways besides Christian Ministry?

            Not at this time, but the college is already putting plans in motion to open additional bachelor’s degrees in other fields in the future. 

            Can I live on campus?

            Campus housing is available for students under 25. More information about housing can be found on our Residential Services page.

            What if I have already completed an associate degree?

            You can still be a part of the program! Your associate level coursework will be reviewed and incorporated in the bachelor level degree plan. More information can be viewed in the Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry Course Catalog Addendum.
