Transient Student
Application Checklist
Our Admissions Office will walk you step by step through the application process to make it as simple as possible.
After you submit a completed application, follow the checklist below to finish the admissions process. When you finish each item on the checklist, you’ll be registered for the courses approved by your home institution.
You will not be enrolled in your pre-approved courses until all required documents have been received and verified by the Admissions Office.
Step 1: Apply
Degree seeking students from another accredited institution may take selected classes as transient students at Jacksonville College with their college’s permission.
A $25.00 application fee will be charged for each Transient Application.
Upon completion of the application, a link is provided to the Transient Agreement Form. This must be downloaded and printed. Upon completion, please upload into Empower.
Step 2: Required Documents
All transient applicants are required to complete two documents in EMPOWER (our student information system) before you are admitted and enrolled:
- Federal and Institutional Expectations Acknowledgement (you will read and sign this through your EMPOWER portal.)
- Financial Responsibility Agreement (read and sign in EMPOWER.)
Step 3: Submit the Transient Registration Form
You’ll find instructions and the link to the Transient Registration Form at the end of the Transient Application. Upon completion, this form is uploaded into Empower.
The student will be registered for the course(s) on the Transient Registration Agreement provided both the application and form are complete.
A new Transient Registration Agreement must be submitted for any subsequent term enrollments. Terms are as follows:
Fall Semester includes Fall (full 16 week semester), Fall 8B (8 week session October to December), and Winter (December 10 – January 2).
Spring Semester includes Spring (full 16 week semester), and Spring 8B (8 week session March to May).
Summer includes May (May 13 – 27), Summer 1 (June 1 – 25) and Summer 2 (July 6 – 30).
As always, if you decide mid term to enroll in another session in THAT semester (for instance, you enroll for fall, then mid term decide to add a winter course), you simply need to upload the new transient registration agreement through your EMPOWER portal, and email admissions@jacksonvillecollege.edu to inform us of your desire.
“I completed the application checklist. What now?”
Login to your Empower account to verify you have submitted everything properly and nothing is missing. A single missing document can prolong admittance, so be sure to complete the checklist in a timely manner.
Official transcripts and test scores must be sent directly to Jacksonville College (ATTN: Admissions) from the originating organization. All other documents are completed in Empower.
